Lesson 8

Visual Feedback

Welcome to Lesson 8! Yeah!

I’m super excited to introduce you to today’s feature! This was something I baked in from the inception of Fitness Frenzy. It’s simple yet powerful. Today we will learn the importance of visual feedback and how to log a progress picture!

tl;dr - Visual Feedback is super important. Combined with our other logging methods, logging a progress picture literally completes the picture. It is a source of honesty and motivation. You can’t fool the mirror and as you log your photos, you’ll be creating your own personal before/after montage!

Let’s be honest, I would argue most of us want to embark on fitness journeys to look better, slimmer, more tone - for many, good health is just a nice side effect. I’m here to tell you THAT’S OK, it is a perfectly valid reason. The pursuit of a fit body is not vain, you only cross the vain territory if you become obsessive (not good). Let’s break that stigma right now. Fit is healthy, healthy is sexy, and the pursuit of fitness is noble. That being said you have to be ok with yourself every step of the way. The feeling of ‘not being enough’ leads to obsessive behavior - I know this one first hand. So going forward we’ll practice self-love and patience with ourselves along the way. THIS IS KEY because here’s the truth - a fitness journey never ends. If you think, “I’ll be happy when…”, “when” will never come - you’re much better off and will be much more successful if you enjoy the ride.

The reason for the compassionate preface is twofold - one, I’ve struggled with personal image for a majority of my life - it’s not a fun place to be and If I can help others not suffer, then damnit, I will. Two, taking progress photos can be intimidating. You literally have to face the person in the mirror. But trust me, we all have to start somewhere. I promise you if you start and stick with the journey you’ll be ecstatic you have the picture momentos along the way. Trust me, not a whole lot is more satisfying than looking back at how far you’ve come.

Progress pictures also have a practical use as well, some weeks your weight might not change, but you may notice the difference in the mirror - this can be caused by a few reasons. So when numbers fail us, a picture may just give us some reassurance we are on the right path. That being said, we’ll want to get in the habit of taking a picture 1/Week. Don’t worry, Fitness Frenzy will remind you when that is! Oh, and no, no one else can see your progress photos but you :) Privacy is a foundational principle of Fitness Frenzy. To get started logging your pictures, follow the gif below and finish with tapping “Complete TODOs” at the bottom!
